Royal Seri Menanti Golf & Country Club
What is interesting about Sri Menanti, the royal town of Negeri Sembilan, is the all-wooden palace built in 1902. Amazingly, not a single nail was used in the entire building. Every joint was meticulously drilled and dowels were used in place of nails. It is now a national treasure, as the palace has ceased to be the royal residence.
If the Sri Menanti palace is unique, what is even more fascinating is the nine holes golf course, which is surrounded by three palaces. The official palace of the Yang Di Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan is one of them.
The par-36 course (3,018 m) course was designed with the help of English architect Donald Steel and fully financed by His Royal Highness, an avid golfer himself. Steel managed to blend the layout with the natural surroundings, thus making the Royal Seri Menanti Golf course very scenic and challenging.
Its colonial-style clubhouse, formerly known as Istana Kenanga also provides facilities for archery, billiards, tennis and badminton.
