Royal Selangor Golf Club
The Royal Selangor Golf Club is Malaysia’s second oldest golf club. It grew with Kuala Lumpur and underwent its own trials and tribulations, just as the city did.

Situated less than a kilometre from the centre of Kuala Lumpur, the Royal Selangor Golf Club is one of the leading clubs in Asia. It has the highest number of holes in the country: its old course (18 holes), its new course (18 holes) and its unique Sulaiman course, which was built in 1965, featuring nine holes of par-3s.
Since 1893 when the Glassford brothers together with A.T.D Berrington, then chief magistrate of Selangor, undertook the task of laying out the course, the club has continued to prosper. The early fifties brought a tremendous increase of interest in golf among the Asian population. Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Alhaj, Malaysia’s first Prime Minister, was a keen golfer. It was said that because he played, hundreds followed suit.
In 1962, the “Royal” title was bestowed on the club by His Majesty, the Yang di Pertuan Agong. Tunku Syed Putra Ibni al-Marhum Syed Hassan Jamalulail, the Raja of Perlis.
The club’s membership includes royalty, cabinet ministers and members of the diplomatic corps. Large corporations have hosted a number of prestigious tournaments there, such as the Malaysian Open, the Malaysian Masters and the Dunhill Nations Cup Pacific Finals.
