Royal Johor Country Club
Some 10 minutes away from Johor Bahru, amidst the picturesque Taman Tasek and overlooking the Istana (palace) is the Royal Johor Country Course, once known as Tasek Utara.
The Royal Johor Country Club is reputed to have some of the most challenging holes in the country. It is also Johor’s first 18 hole course. Built on a 300-acre site which was once virgin jungle, the course design is the product of PWD engineers.
The club has created a few firsts. It is the first club in this region to have a network of tarred roads and golf buggy tracks on its golf course.
Golfers with non-spike golf shoes are not permitted to play on the golf course, and players must have caddies.
The club’s membership entrance fees are not excessive but it has since suspended its membership intake. Facilities such as a pro-shop, a driving range, putting greens, squash & tennis courts, a gymnasium, swimming pool, billiards, a restaurant, bar, a banquet hall and changing rooms with lockers are offered at the Royal Johor Country Club.
Due to its close proximity to Singapore, the Royal Johor Golf Course has become a very popular golfing playground among Singaporean and Japanese golfers who make frequent visits there to have a round of golf.
With its variety of challenges, the Royal Johor Country Club has also been a popular venue for both amateur and professional tournaments.
