Port Dickson Garrison Golf Club
Port Dickson is one of Malaysia’s best known seaside resorts. The light sea-breezes of the Straits of Melaka invite visitors to frolic in sun, sand and sea along 18kms of gently sloping beaches.
In what used to be swampy land and jungle next to the beaches. there now stands the Port Dickson Garrison Golf Course and Club. It was only after five years of hard work and massive transfusions of laterite soil that the course took shape in 1961, covering a 77-acre plot of land.
The golf course was built up and designed by army officers, supervised by their general. The par-72, 18-hole layout features about 30 bunkers and ponds that are spread throughout the tight course. Initially only a handful of army officers joined as club members, but membership eventually grew over the years.
For a small fee, golfers can play at the Garrison Golf Club course for a weekend round. The course can be both pleasurable and profitable as it is rarely over-crowded. Driving- time from Kuala Lumpur is about one and a half hours.
