Royal Perak Golf Club

Ipoh, the city that tin built, was a millionaires’ town in its heyday in the 1900s. It was also during this era that the present Royal Perak Golf Club was established from 180 acres of secondary jungle. One of the finest clubs in Perak, it offers excellent facilities.

Situated in Ipoh town, the capital of Perak, Royal Perak Golf Club is a swell place, providing first class facilities to its 3.000 members. In addition, the 18-hole golf course stretching from Tiger Lane to the vicinity of the Gunung Rapat limestone cliffs has its fair share of challenges and golfers who execute sixties. The club’s excellent facilities like card and game rooms, squash courts, tennis courts, a swimming pool, a six-lane bowling centre, changing rooms, a bar lounge and dining room and an excellent pro shop.

The biggest tournament ever played at the Royal Perak Golf Course was the Malaysian Open Golf Championship held in 1974, which will again be played at the Royal Perak in 1990.

The par-72,(6,187 m) golf course layout has only one pond which comes into play at the 579 meters, par-4, 15th hole. The finishing hole is probably the most challenging par-5 on the golf course.

The 19th can either be holed within the club or better still in the city which has a bustling nightlife. Like the course. Ipoh has something for everyone.

The New Club (Taiping)

The (Taiping) New Club is invariably linked to the birth of Taiping. The nine-hole golf course is a study in pastoral beauty. Golf thrives amidst the serene ponds, yawning bunkers and tropical woodland with Bukit Larut (Maxwell Hill) providing a picturesque setting. Golfing under such conditions is altogether lovely and alluring.

The undulating golf course is a worthy attraction. Visitors to the popular Bukit Larut Hill Resort usually pause there for a round of golf before moving on.

The North Brigade Golf Club has a tough course that has managed to retain character. It was built longer in order to provide enough challenges to the aspiring golfer. Its simple and flat appearance must not be taken lightly.

Much of the 2,800 meter par-36 golf course layout has been diligently and carefully moulded to preserve the natural terrain.

At North Brigade Golf Club, the quiet atmosphere amidst the natural surrounding can be peaceful and rewarding. Membership at North Brigade Golf Club is exclusive as it caters mainly to officers and men of the Brigade.

Idris Shah Golf Club

The Idris Shah Golf Club (ISGC) is situated in the middle of Teluk Intan Township in Perak. Its golf course, a nine-hole 2,786 meter layout, is relatively flat, and play is best in the cool evenings. Other facilities at Idris Shah Golf Club include two all-weather tennis courts, table tennis, cards and indoor games, lounges and restaurants.

Kinta Golf Club

Batu Gajah, has a fable behind its name, a historical site to remind visitors of the past and the `Kinta Special’. The small but lively town was named after a huge boulder the size of an elephant, while the once enchanting “Kellie’s Castle” despite the ravages of time, still exudes a certain majesty and dignity.

The `Kinta Special’ is something else. It is the name given to a concoction of various soft drinks and is only served at the Kinta Golf Club in Batu Gajah.

It is not known when the club and the golf course were established due to lack of records.

Its par-72, 18-hole layout is relatively flat, with few obstacles and one can really enjoy a round of social golf there, as well as a `Kinta Special’. Caddies are readily available at any time. Other facilities include indoor games such as billiard and table tennis.

Pan Pacific Resort Pangkor Island Golf Club

The Pan Pacific Resort Pangkor is situated in one of Malaysia’s finest holiday resorts.
